D-Backs 9- Mets 6 July 30, 2010

Mike Pelfrey just hasn’t been able to get it together once again tonight. He went 5.2 innings and gave up 4 earned runs on 8 hits and 4 walks. The umpire behind the plate was pretty bad with one of the smallest strike zones I’ve seen in a while. That certainly didn’t help.

Surprisingly, Pelfrey wasn’t the worst pitcher of the night for the Mets. Raul Valdes had his worst game as a Met giving up 4 runs without recording an out in the sixth. He gave up two homers and had absolutely nothing. It was a surprise because he’s been so good with what doesn’t appear to be great stuff.

The bright spot of the night was David Wright going 3 for 4 with two homers in his first two at-bats. Those homers resulted in 5 RBI’s tonight for him.

This is the Mets fourth straight loss to the horrible D-Backs team. They need to toughen up and get some payback this weekend.

Although I don’t have a degree in journalism, I love writing about the New York Mets. I’m the typical writer without access. My only accessibility to the Mets is sitting in the stands (often the upper tank) and watching on TV like most fans. I’m not a member of the media, just a fan expressing opinions.
