Marlins End Mets Season Again With 4-2 Win

It’s hard to believe that this team couldn’t generate any juice from Johan Santana’s performance yesterday. But the Mets just couldn’t get any offense going after scoring two runs in the sixth inning.

Oliver Perez did a decent job giving up only two runs over 5.1 innings. The killer was Scott Schoenweiss and Luis Ayala giving up back to back homers to Helms and Uggla in the eighth inning. That capped the win for the Marlins.

Shea Stadium goes out sadly with the Milwaukee Brewers sealing the Wild Card spot with a win today.

Although I don’t have a degree in journalism, I love writing about the New York Mets. I’m the typical writer without access. My only accessibility to the Mets is sitting in the stands (often the upper tank) and watching on TV like most fans. I’m not a member of the media, just a fan expressing opinions.

  1. what is to say? I got nothing new to add, Dave, you did a great job ! keep it going Shea came in like it left, with Mets losing. Next year they must start a new and different tradition, winning

  2. You can say what you want about the bullpen, the lack of clutch hitting and the injuries. But there is only one thing and one thing only that caused another meltdown this season: Mr. Met. Mr. Met symbolizes all that is wrong with this organization and baseball. His body represents the Steroid era. His large head and that acne that looks like stitching is a clear indicator of his use. I saw him try to beat up another mascot the other day, once again showing the rage brought on by certain PED’s.
He is a cancer in the clubhouse and a stigma to the fans. If anything, let’s make sure that 2009 is a great season by saying NO to Mr. Met!!
