Mets 1 – Rockies 0 August 10, 2010

Apr. 27, 2010 - Flushing, NY, USA - April 25, 2010: New York Mets starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey strides toward the plate during a rain-filled Major League Baseball game vs. visiting Atlanta Braves at Citi Field in Flushing, NY. He allowed no runs while scattering 5 hits and 5 walks over 5 innings. He got the win to improve his season record to 4-0 in the Mets 1-0 victory in a game that was called one strike into the top 6th inning on account of rain.

The Mets finally got a good game from Mike Pelfrey for the first time in a month and a half. He went 7 shutout innings and threw 122 pitches only allowing 4 hits. He didn’t go overboard with the splitter tonight. It seems like the league has caught up with that. It was a great game that Pelfrey needed badly.

There wasn’t much offense for the Mets but they were up against Ubaldo Jimenez. They only had 4 hits but did have 5 walks. The only run of the game was on a Jose Reyes sacrifice fly in the seventh with the bases loaded and one out.

The Mets looked good for the first time in quite a while. It’s a nice way to start this series.

Although I don’t have a degree in journalism, I love writing about the New York Mets. I’m the typical writer without access. My only accessibility to the Mets is sitting in the stands (often the upper tank) and watching on TV like most fans. I’m not a member of the media, just a fan expressing opinions.
