Video Highlights

Oliver Perez went six strong innings giving up only one run on five hits and three walks. He certainly wasn’t as dominating as he had been in his last few starts, but he was good enough to get the win and raise his record to 7-6.

Aaron Heilman pitched the seventh and eighth innings giving up only one hit and two walks. And Billy Wagner shut the door in the ninth for his 27th save.

Jose Reyes was 3 for 5, including getting thrown out at third going for a triple in the first at-bat of the game.

Nick Evans was 2 for 4 and scored the first two runs of the game. It looked like two runs would be all the Mets would need until the eighth inning. Carlos Delgado hit his 23rd homer to add two more insurance runs.

The Phillies also won so the NL East lead remains .5 games.

Although I don’t have a degree in journalism, I love writing about the New York Mets. I’m the typical writer without access. My only accessibility to the Mets is sitting in the stands (often the upper tank) and watching on TV like most fans. I’m not a member of the media, just a fan expressing opinions.
