On Deck- August 5- Padres at Mets [Game 1]

San Diego Padres (43-69 Road: 18-35) at New York Mets (58-53 Home: 32-20) 7:10pm

Chris Young (4-4 4.12) vs. Mike Pelfrey (9-7 3.91)

TV: SNY   Radio: WFAN

What to watch: The only thing I can say about this is that the Mets owe the Padres a major beating for sweeping a four game series in June in California. Remember the three 2-1 games that the Mets lost there? It’s payback time.

Although I don’t have a degree in journalism, I love writing about the New York Mets. I’m the typical writer without access. My only accessibility to the Mets is sitting in the stands (often the upper tank) and watching on TV like most fans. I’m not a member of the media, just a fan expressing opinions.

  1. this series will truly tell us if Mets are serious or delirious contenders. If they fail to make a statement against a team that humiliated them earlier, Then, I am afraid we are toast.the one upside to us sucking off into oblivion is–we get to actually give lots of our young players a good look. With Maine’s “slight” rotator cuff injury.SLIGHT? that word and rotator cuff do not appear in same sentence in baseball terms anywhere else I am aware of.Pedro looks like any other # 5 starter. except he is better known. Billy Wagner has been getting by on less than good health for a while, so who knows? we get limited at best, power from corner OF. our bullpen (even with Billy) is a disaster waiting to happen, It may be a good season in retrospect,as in starting development of younger players instead of has been over the hilll stop gap method used previously. but I am not sure, the goal of World Series in gonna happen. Damn I hope I am wrong,

  2. The Maine and Wagner injuries put a big damper on the Mets beleaguered pitching. So the Mets need to take advantage of the Padres playing out the string on this season. If not, they could be in big trouble.
