Yankees 5 – Mets 0 June 27, 2009

The Mets got shutout for the second time this week. As bad as that is, you can’t take anything away from A.J. Burnett. He was excellent tonight combining with two relievers on a 1-hit shutout.

Tim Redding was doing pretty well too until the sixth inning. He completely lost it giving up four straight hits on four pitches. The killer was a 3-run homer by Jorge Posada.

There’s no offense to speak of with this Mets team right now. Thank goodness that Alex Cora got a hit to keep the Yankees from no-hitting the Mets at Citi Field. We’d never hear the end of it from the Yankees fans.

Uggghhh… Tough loss again… This team needs to simply get to the all-star break without falling too far behind… they need to get healthy ASAP…

Yeah, that’s really the story of the Mets season so far. It’s just a waiting game to see if they can tread water until someone gets healthy. It’s a minor league lineup they’re running out there. But there’s not much that the Mets can do about it, unfortunately.

Redding can be effective but has never been a complete game pitcher, The Mets need to know when to get him out of the game before he tires and gives up the ship. He has a habit of running out of gas quickly He actually pitched quite well for the first 5 innings. He is a far better option than Perez or some others. I realize the mets have a weak pen right now, but they have to manage their staff better.

This is getting so bad its embarrassing. To appear so overmatched hurts. But it is what is right now. I still cant believe the team is only 2 games out. I am honestly more hurt by it being the Yankees doing it than if it were some other team.
